Mayne Island Community Centre

A great place to stay fit, learn new things, have fun and meet people!

The Mayne Island Community Centre is a popular local venue offering a variety programs for fitness, health and well-being, arts and crafts, and education. We also host meetings, community events and occasional private functions like weddings and banquets. Behind the centre, a path leads to a lovely Community Garden, and on the West side, you’ll see the community courts. Inside are a cozy social room, large bright main room, commercial kitchen, and fitness centre. There is ample parking available and the facility is wheelchair accessible.

To own and operate a sustainable facility for the benefit of Mayne Island residents and visitors and to encourage participation in community activities.

Special General Meeting April 27th

Please be advised that the Mayne Island Community Centre Society will be holding a special general meeting on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 1 pm at the Community Centre to present a number of changes to our bylaws.

They primarily deal with the definition of voting membership and proxy votes. The exact wording is being reviewed to ensure they meet Societies Act requirements, and will be included with the official notice of the special meeting.

Please note that we need approval by 2/3 of the members attending the meeting for each proposed change in the bylaws to be adopted.

As the meeting is being held under the current bylaws, proxy voting is permitted.

The official notice with proposed bylaw wording and pre-registration details will be emailed to Community Centre members ahead of the meeting. Note that memberships were up for renewal as of Jan. 1st.

Annual General Meeting Venue Changed to Mayne School

Thank you to anyone/everyone who helped us get the school secured for this Sunday, December 3rd to hold our MICCS AGM.

Registration to attend the AGM is still at the Community Centre from 9:30 am-12pm on Dec. 3rd. The AGM will be later the same day at Mayne School from 1:30-3:30 pm, doors will open at 1:00 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: There will not be registration or new memberships taken after noon either at the Centre or at the School.

The MICC AGM will be held Sunday, December 3rd from 1:30 to 3:30. Doors will open at 1:00 pm. UPDATE: The meeting will now be held at the Mayne School.

In order to avoid the long line ups that we experienced last year at the AGM, registration will be held on Sunday December 3rd at the Community Centre from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Only voting MICCS members will be given entry tickets to attend the AGM. Voting ballots from the morning registration will be picked up at the door at 1:00 pm.

Current COVID Protocols

Please check with program group leaders for details about how COVID plans affect your specific program.

As of April 8, 2022, all Public Health Orders have been lifted. Full capacity is allowed for indoor organized events, exercise and fitness, and adult sports activities. COVID Safety Plans were replaced in July, 2021, by Communicable Disease Plans.
1. MICC will monitor communicable disease related information from our regional health officer and/or provincial health officers and adjust our plan accordingly.
2. Signage and hand hygiene supplies will be available on site.
3. MICC will continue to maintain a clean environment through routine cleaning processes.
4. Visitors to the Community Centre: please continue to use sanitizers, wash hands, cough away from people or into a sleeve, and spot clean high touch areas.
5. If you don’t feel well, please let your Program Leader know and stay at home.
