Located in a five-acre meadow at 493 Felix Jack Road in the center of the Island, the Mayne Island Community Centre is the venue for an increasing range of community events, programs and activities as well as occasional private weddings and parties.

The present structure of about 2400 sq. ft. is actually Phase 1 of an eventually much larger complex. As conceived several years ago, Phase 2 will add a dividable Auditorium, possibly gym-sized, and with fold-away tiered seating, a stage with backstage workspace and green room, piano storage and rehearsal room, meeting/club room, expanded washroom facilities, etc.

For now, the Main Room and Social Room offer approximately 1220 sq. ft. of event space. The Main Room will seat 60-70 at tables or in rows for meetings and performances, while the Social Room, with its gas fireplace, offers a cozy lounge ambience for smaller meetings. For the summer months, a marquee tent system is erected on the hexagonal side deck, and attached at the large steel and glass door in the Main Room to add 1220 sq. ft. of additional space, accommodating wedding banquets of 120. Everything is on one level, and wheelchair accessible.

The commercial-grade kitchen can service the Main Room via a pass-through, and is equipped with a comprehensive catering inventory.

Out in the ‘back forty’ is our deer-proof Community Garden, featuring a Pat Hennebery cob garden shed, and organic plots plumbed for drip-irrigation with rainwater from the roof-catchment system.

As the Community Centre continues to grow and evolve, we intend to maintain our commitment to provide affordable event space and relevant programs and activities for Mayne Islanders.

The Mayne Island Community Centre Society wishes to acknowledge the receipt of funds granted by the British Columbia Gaming Commission that launched the initial construction of the Mayne Island Community Centre in 2003. The Community Centre Society has since received other grants from the BC Gaming Commission with other projects such as the construction of a Fitness Room and Tennis Courts.  We gratefully acknowledge that without these matching grants, the Community Centre could not be such a thriving facility that it is now. The Mayne Island Community Centre Society thanks kindly our BC Liberal MLA, Murray Coell and the British Columbia Gaming Commission for their generous help and their continuous support.
